Very short drive today, about 15 mins, to the Jajce (pronounced “yai chay”) Youth Hostel where we are staying in their parking lot. When we arrive the couple we met last night, from Chile, were there and another couple from Germany/Argentina. Both couples had just stopped by to use the showers. We are here to top up our water, charge up the batteries, drain the grey water tank and do laundry. An additional bonus is that there is a large “Bingo” store right across the road. This Bingo store is like a combined food and department store.
The price to stay in the parking lot of the hostel about 14 euros per day and includes all the electricity and water you can consume… except that the water wasn’t turned on yet as they are still in winter mode. Laundry was 3 euros for a wash & dry. There was also an extra charge for the dogs, no idea why, the pricing seems to be up to the person as the reception desk.
There are quite a few stray dogs wandering around. They barked at our dogs, but never came close, and even moved away if we got too close. People here are not dog people. People would cross to the other side of the road when we approached, or walk onto the road as we passed. We stopped for a drink at an outside cafe and were told “NO” – no dogs allowed apparently.
